[F] A decent Pratchett blog [message #268950] Do, 18 Mai 2006 16:55

Hello every body out there in the World,
I Googled for PTerry Blogs and didn't find any decent one. I mean, there
are some good blogs talking about PTerry but none really concentrating
on the master and his work. Do you have any information on a 100% PTerry
dedicated blog please. If there's none, maybe I'm be in the mood to
start one. I already have a blog talking about a lot of things in French
(http://sa-un.blogspot.com - please note the *huge* reference to PTerry
as you get there... :-)). I just read this article on "get started
blogging" advising to find a niche and blog on it
( http://www.paulstamatiou.com/2006/05/14/how-to-start-bloggin g/) and I'm
wondering about finding a niche to blog on the Discworld and PTerry and
his work.

Any comments, ideas or advice on this?
Cheers
SauN

Personally, I'd also be curious to see an indecent one.

If I never hear or read the words "blog" or "myspace" again, I wouldn't
mind, really.

"The last post on the last blog on the internet reported the demise of
myspace, before folding into itself, climbing into its navel and
disappearing."

Seconded. Unfortunately, "Blogosphere" is a contender for word of the year.
(Or was that last year?)

Your best bet would be to try the alt.books.pratchett NG. They're the
ones that keep the serious debates about Pterry. And no, I'm not
interested in Blogs, they have the tendency to become too narrow in
their focus for my tastes.

There's more variation in newsgroups and I find them easier to follow
and read.

I like mine too. Although I've never experienced myspace, so don't
know about that.

But I'd agree that blogs are only really interesting if you know the
person they're by, or have something in particular in common with them.

Also why would you want to read one person's (how can I put it, er..)
personal views on TP when we have www.ie.lspace and a.f.p and a.b.p
where we have the distilled wisdom of time and the fermenting mix of new
thoughts and views!

I would contest the idea that the wisdom of either abp or afp is
distilled. It is the raw, undistorted viepoint of a number of... um..
err.... Well, most of them are people, but there are a few I am not sure
about.

Oh, yeah, most of them are like that.

Now and then there's something Pratchetty on my blog, but it I had to write
nothing but Pratchett stuff, I think it would be infrequently updated.

That was _so_ last year. This year it's probably Web 2.5, your wife is a
big hippo.

The term distilled was meant to refer to lspace, whereas the term
fermenting mix was meant to refer to a.f.p and a.b.p
In other words I was implying that on the newsgroups you got the raw
ingredients with a lot of energetic froth.... not to different from your
theme I would hazard to imply 8-)
